What Do You Need to Know Before Dating an Entrepreneur?

Oh no, you’ve fallen in ‘love’ with an entrepreneur, they have everything; they’re ambtious, driven and overall an incredible person. If you aren’t an entrepreneur yourself, you may be overwhelmed by their personality and the little idiosyncrasies they have. Don’t stress out dating an entrepreneur is an amazing experience, although you may want to know a few things first.

1. They listen to an abundance of self-development.

Entrepreneurs will unlikely ever reach a point where they’re content with their personal and professional progress. Resulting in their walls covered in quotes, posters and anything that inspires them, their phone running out of storage because they’ve downloaded so many videos of Gary Vaynerchuk and Tony Robbins. This is one of the biggest motivators for a lot of entrepreneurs.

2. They struggle “Relaxing.”

Entrepreneurs aren’t the type to leave their work at work, instead, their lifestyle is lived throughout them, they may struggle to switch their devices off and actually ‘Relaxing’ this is an entrepreneur’s nightmare. No entrepreneur wants to feel ‘content’, so remind them that they’re loved and that you truly do believe in what they’re doing, unconditional love.

3. They question everything they do to see if it’s worth their time.

Entrepreneurs minds are never empty, the last thing an entrepreneur wants to do is something that is unproductive. If an entrepreneur is spending time with you, they truly are enjoying it. They care so much about their time, so remember if they’re spending loads of time with you, they’re enjoying it and have a care for you that most wouldn’t.

4. They ask endless questions.

Entrepreneurs aren’t ever content with what they’ve learnt. Even if the subject has nothing to do with their start-up or business, they’re naturally overly curious, asking millions of questions to gain knowledge about everything they possibly can. Dating an entrepreneur, you’re dating someone who will push you to your learning limits, won’t take no for an answer when it comes to problems and tasks that you may face together. Treasure them, they’re all striving for love and connection and if you’re the lucky one out of the thousands they meet, treasure those moments.

5. It’s impossible to articulate what they do.

Of course, you could just tell your friends and family that your partner is an entrepreneur, but before you know it you’ve been speaking for about an hour on what your partners ‘business’ is and everything that they do. Sometimes your partner is involved in so many different start-up and businesses that you may end up leaving a bad impression on some people that may be completely confused on what your partner actually does.

6. They care about you more than you may know.

Not many are daring enough or able to date an entrepreneur for the reasons that I’ve covered, which means if you are willing and know you can, you’re a very special person. Your love and dedication can be one of the biggest driving forces that an entrepreneur can have of course it’s a bumpy ride but so is every relationship, if you’re reading this and your partner is an entrepreneur, you secretly may be one also.

7. Their emotions change all the time.

Entrepreneurs are exhilarated by success and overly disappointed by any slow progress. While this is normal for most people, entrepreneur’s experience crazy rollercoasters that others can’t even dream of — they may be pumped one minute and down the next, this is normal but the reassurance of their partner can be an encouragement to pick themselves back up, sometimes they need that safety net.

8. They’re very spontaneous.

Entrepreneurs pay close attention to exactly what’s going on to create the next ‘huge thing’ so their surprises go beyond the usual chocolates and flowers, they also have amazing timing when it comes to surprising you, so get ready to have your mind blown away.

9. You’ll become an entrepreneur.

The stories, hardships and rewards that come from your partner and their start-up or business will teach you more and more about what it’s like to be an entrepreneur, whether you’re thinking of starting a business or being an entrepreneur you’ll end up having an endless amount of knowledge on the topic, which can help you succeed in whatever part of your life.

10. They live to be more, do more and become more.

Entrepreneurs are forever working towards goals and dreams, they can be working toward several at a time and your support throughout this process is so important, the more accomplished they feel the more motivated they’re and the more they’ll get done, so never put them down for what they’re doing – give them constructive criticism, but don’t ever tell them they can’t accomplish something.
